Jerry was born in Missoula, Montana, on August 19, 1945. He received a B.A. degree from the University of Montana in 1968. He served in the military during the Viet Nam war as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army. Upon return to Montana, Jerry attended law school and received his J.D. degree from the University of Montana School of Law in 1974. Upon the basis of academic ranking he was chosen Associate Editor of the Montana Law Review.
Jerry has had a distinguished and active practice. He served on the U.S. Bankruptcy Trustee Panel for the District of Montana and handled litigation throughout Montana. He was selected to be included in the publications, The Best Lawyers in America and in Mountain States Super Lawyers.
Jerry was elected to, and served on, the Billings School District Board of Trustees. Jerry was on the National Advisory Board for Rocky Mountain College and on the Board of Visitors for the University of Montana School of Law. He served on the board of the Montana Defense Trial Lawyers Association. He previously served on the boards of American Legion Baseball, the United Way, and the Charles M. Bair Foundation.
